Colin Douglas Macgill

Colin’s family are sad to announce that he passed away on December 16 th , 2022 at the age of 60. He leaves to mourn: his sisters Fiona (Alex Robinson), Patricia (Mark Mertens), niece Amanda Mertens and nephew Nicholas Mertens, Aunt and Uncle Kay and Tom Johnston, Aunt Margaret Macgill, and friends and staff from his home McDaniel Manor.

Colin was predeceased by his parents Robert Douglas Macgill and Jean Macgill.

Colin was born January 19, 1962 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire in the UK. He was born with Downs Syndrome. Colin came to Canada in the late 70’s and one of his proudest moments was becoming a Canadian Citizen. Colin loved many things including double cheeseburgers, Tim Hortons and all of the Rocky movies. Colin will be remembered for his smile and contagious laugh.

We will cherish the memories and strive to handle life’s ups and downs as he did.

A celebration of life for Colin will be planned for early 2023. Our family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff of McDaniel Manor and St. Williams for their care, love and support over the past 20 years, and to the staff at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.
