Shelly and Larry and families. We are sending our sincere condolences in the passing of Darlene. I am unable to make it to the celebration of life, but I will make every effort to meet with you when I get back
Seeing that smile in the picture of Darlene reminds me of the Serink family parties; the weddings, the anniversaries. Christmas’s. She was so much fun! Her laugh, smile, friendliness and kindness was wonderful and infectious. Rest in Peace Darlene. Our Condolences Shelly, Jan and family and friends.
Our deepest sympathy to all the family and those close to Darlene. As a younger cousin, I always admired Darlene for her happy and friendly nature and the kindness she showed towards others. She was a beautiful lady in every way.
She will be dearly missed!
We will miss Darlene, it was so nice catching up with her this summer. We find comfort knowing we can share our memories of her, and hope someday, those memories will bring less sadness and more joy.

We are sorry we could not attend Darlene’s celebration of her life.
I have enjoyed many happy times with Darlene, and especially remember being thrilled with a halibut meal she prepared. I send condolences to all those who will miss her, as I will.
Dear Shelley, Jan, Larry and Terry. Along with all of the members of your families.
I will miss Darlene, Yet her spirit along with that of Dale’s will always be with me. We had so many good times together.I feel blessed to have had such a fun and rewarding friendship.
I treasure those memories.
I send you my prayers and thoughts as we grieve her death and find our new realities. With much love and appreciation to all of you. Sylvia
Darlene was in our neighbourhood for many years with Dale on SaltSpring Island. She was great fun and although I did not see her a lot, I really love her emotional, warm personality. We saw her terrible grief when Dale died and she never seemed quite the same.
When she left she gave me her red bench that had been at her house and now it is at my front door. I think of her every time I look at it. My deep condolences to the family. She was such a lovely lady.
I will always cherish the sincere kindness and gracious hospitality Darlene gave her northern cousins. When we both attended Eastglen High, Darlene took me under her wing, and introduced me to new friends, and the trendy tight skirts of the ’60s. As the years passed, her thoughtfulness and caring continued with “catch-up” time at family celebrations, visits to Salt Spring, and yearly Christmas phone calls! Darlene; until we meet again, ever rest in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
With sincere condolences to all her family.

Darlene was such a lovely human being. She always had a sparkle about her – an energy that spread to those around her. It was nice to have her back in Edmonton but so sad that her time with us was so short.
Our condolences to Darlene’s family.
Darlene always had a smile and the interests of her Department at Harry Ainlay at heart. So sorry to hear of her passing.
Mrs. Drever was an amazing teacher and taught so many of us who attended Harry Ainlay lifelong fibre art skills with both patience and humor. She never lost her cool with her students, despite time constraints, sewing disasters and the occasional fight over steam irons. She was always fair and always made time outside of regular school hours to help get a project completed. If you were willing to learn, she was willing to teach. Thank you for some of my best school lessons, Mrs. Drever. You not only encouraged my love of all things creative, but supported my out of the box thinking. Many of your students are forever grateful and have used your taught skills into our adult lives.
I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Drever’s passing. I have such fond memories of her sewing class at Ainlay in the 80s. She was a dedicated and passionate teacher who impacted many lives.
I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Drever’s passing. Mrs. Drever was a favorite teacher. She had such class and style and always showed she cared about us as young individuals. Always will remember my friend and I trying to sew ourselves bathing suits in Clothing and Textiles class with Mrs. Drever helping us work with the stretchy fabric. ❤️
Today I am sewing and I was feeling so grateful for this hobby that was gifted to me by Mrs Drever in the early 80s! She was my favourite teacher and it is a testament that now, more than 40 years later, I am still thinking of her care and commitment to her students. Her family should be proud of her legacy and know she has impacted hundreds of people.
