Carole Jean Sadownik, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away at the age of 79 on Friday, October 7, 2022. There were several stages of her life where she came in contact with a variety of different people who were in her life for decades.

She was born in Edmonton to the late William Malanchen and Mary Malanchen (Kryscow), and spent the first years of her life on a farm near Bon Accord. Upon graduation from high school, Carole complete a program at the Alberta College for work as administrative support.

Carole married William (Willie) Sadownik in 1963 where they settled in Edmonton to raise a family. During this time, Carole and Willie volunteered in community leagues, spent time with family and many friends, and travelled the world.

When Willie died in 1993, Carole had to reinvent herself as a widow at 50. She continued to improve her education so that she could work a variety of different positions including admissions at Grant McEwan University. She volunteered on her condo board and was always keen to volunteer and be part of the many Edmonton festivals over the years as well. Carole spent her free time with friends, family and travelling the world to places she always wanted to visit. By the time she was in her 70s she had travelled to all four corners of the world.

Although Carole experienced health issues throughout her life, she always fought for her independence and tried to keep her body and mind active. She had recently lost many friends over the years and wanted to ensure they she was as independent as possible. During the pandemic Carole had some challenges, but she was able to overcome them, and over the last few months was able to regain her dignity and confidence living independently in her own home.

Carole is survived by her son, Luik Kronin and son-in-law Michael, of Edmonton, Alberta; brother, Gary Malanchen and family; and her grandchildren  - Makena Lucki, Steven Lucki, and Darcy Fisher. She was preceded in death by her husband William (Willie) Sadownik, daughter Deneen Lucki; and grandson Curtis Lucki.

As requested by Carole, there will be no services. She preferred to be remembered by others where they could reflect in a private manner about her long and varied life.
