Violet Kathleen Harris
It is still with very heavy hearts that we the children of Vi Harris formally announce her passing on May 12th, 2022.
Mom was born in Cold Lake, AB on July 13, 1934, growing up on the family farm in rangeland near Grande Centre and moved to Edmonton in the early 50’s. Mom worked for Fabricland and the AMA and married our dad on November 20, 1954. Her Bobby was her life and she missed him greatly after his death in 2020.
Mom later on worked for Woodward’s until it closed as a store detective and maintained many friendships over the years. Following their retirements mom and dad started their own business and completed many dealer transfers for Crosstown, Sherwood and St Albert Dodge. They travelled the country in all directions, met many people, developed vast friendships and significant memories.
Mom was always active even on her last day on earth. Mom loved us kids, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, travelling in her car and visiting family and friends.
Mom was predeceased by our dad, daughter in law Anne Marie, her parents, sisters and brother. Mom is survived by us kids, Gail (Keith), Kim (Derek), Greg (Wendy), Garth (Tracy), Roger, Lynn (Falardeau), 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Please join us for a celebration of life on August 21, 2022 at 1 pm at the Ardrossan 55 Plus Club in Ardrossan (21 Queen Street, Ardrossan, Alberta)
My condolences to the Family of Vi.
I worked with Vi at Woodwards Westmount and remember she always had a smile on her face despite some of the people she had to deal with in her job as Store security…. but to the Staff and Managers she was always kind and professional. Vi always had time to share a laugh and one thing I noticed when I spoke with her was that her eyes were constantly moving seeking out the scofflaws who would do Woodwards harm!
Rest in peace Vi!
