Dorothy Elizabeth Emma Humphreys
Dorothy Elizabeth Emma Humphreys of Edmonton, AB, formerly of North Vancouver, BC and Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, died peacefully on July 8, 2017 at The Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton. Born on May 28, 1942 in Regina Saskatchewan, she is predeceased by her parents, Arthur Hercules and Harriet Emma Slade, and her beloved nephew David Robert Arthur Slade.
Dorothy, also known as "Dot" by friends and family, was married in 1965 to Vernon Lorne Humphreys. She was passionate and dedicated to her career as a lab technician. In 1978, after being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus, she gave up her career to focus on raising her four children. Strong, courageous, and fiercely loyal, Dorothy inspired everyone around her.
She is survived by her beloved husband and partner in life, Vernon Lorne Humphreys of Edmonton, AB; her devoted children Lorna Bauer (Rick) of North Vancouver, Brenda Leachman (Greg) of Parksville, Kirk Humphreys (Nicola) of Edmonton, Susan St. Martin (Blair) of Edmonton; her loving grandchildren Caitlin and Brianna Leachman, Ella, Hunter and Jaden St. Martin, Megan and Brady Humphreys, and Naomi Bauer; her sister Elsie Eade (Gordon) and her brother Robert Slade (Anne) and her many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will take place on August 12, 2017 at 1 pm, at McKernan Baptist Church in Edmonton Alberta located at 11103 76 Ave, N.W.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cassie and Friends or Spirit of Adoption Alberta.

Lorne and Family; We were so very sorry to learn of Dorothy’s passing. I have many fond memories of growing up and visiting with the Slade family. It has been a long time since we have heard from the folks of our youth and it is too bad it has to be on sad occasions. We have been in Regina for 42 years now but go back to Moose Jaw frequently. This woman was so loved by our family. My girls know her as Nana Dot and cherish the blankets she made them when they were born. We have all enjoyed each visit we had with Nana Dot. She will be greatly missed… I am so thankful she was a woman of faith and is in her heavenly home healthy and new! Love to all of you family members who lost a great team member. In our prayers…

Dear Lorne, I have had many thoughts of Dorothy since Brenda let me know. Dorothy was so good to me in the early seventies in Moose Jaw when the girls were little Over the years I have admired her work ethic, kindness, humour and bravery. Speaking with John Aru yesterday. He and Cathy had attended the celebration of life for our dear Dorothy. I understand she had a wonderful memorial service. We will all miss her very much. A great person and a joy to be with. (We ) Dianne and Ed always enjoyed our visits with Lorne and Dorothy whenever we were in Edmonton. Look forward to visiting with You Lorne on our next visit to Edmonton. Our condolences to you and your great family.
