David Martin Hampel
With broken hearts we announce the passing of David Martin Hampel who went home to his Lord and Savior on Dec 24, 2021, with his wife Donna by his side.
Dave was predeceased by his parents Martin and Elizabeth Hampel, and his brothers-in-law Dave and Ed.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Donna, of 45 years, and sons Cory (Krystal) and Tyler (Heather), and grandchildren Serenity, Ayden and Tanner, as well as his sisters Christine Martin and Sabrina (Wayne) MacQueen, mother-in law Ruth Petersen, sisters-in-law Karen (Mike) Chaykowski, Shirley (Marvin) Dul, Irene Petersen, Audrey (Kevin) Buchanan, and brother-in-law Bob (Sheila) Petersen and many nieces and nephews..
Dave was born in Ontario and had a wide range of interests and skills, including mechanics, hunting, fishing, camping, leatherwork, knifemaking, bow-making, blacksmith, gardening, painting, poetry, gem work, goldsmith, silversmithing, carpentry, and stonework, to name a few.
These he enjoyed sharing with his sons and grandchildren. He was an adventurist, loved nature, traveling, and family time, especially in the outdoors.
Dave enjoyed his work at the University of Alberta Power Plant as a 3rd class power engineer, until retirement.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Heartland Alliance Church. Due to covid restrictions, attendance will be by invitation only, however the service will be live streamed. Please contact the family for the link.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SAM Ministries in care of HAC, Heartland Alliance Church, 53105 AB-21, Sherwood Park, AB T8A 4T7 to support an orphanage in Mozambique.
Dear Donna, I am so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. So glad to know he is now with his Lord and Savior. Please pass our condolences on to your boys. May you all be comforted and at peace as you grieve his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Pat & Don Kerr
