Billy Schmid
The family of Billy Schmid is saddened to announce his sudden passing on September 25, 2021.
He as born on December 31, 1959, in Kamloops. The family moved to Valemount a few years later where he remained for his school years. He spent several years working in Red Deer and finally moved to Edmonton in 1993, where he spent the rest of his life. He worked in the Oilfied for many years before becoming self employed as a Contractor.
He enjoyed nature which included camping, fishing and quadding. Billy was so happy relaxing by a lake in the mountains. There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his family and many fond memories were made over the years. He also was a diehard Oilers fan, and loved watching a variety of sports.
He will be forever loved and remembered by: his wife, Carol; his children, Michael and Davin; his grandson Kai, his sisters, Lisa (Steve) and Susan (Derek); his many cherished relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Herald Schmid, his mother Jean Schmid, his sister Lyda Sedgbeer
A gentle soul, Billy is leaving behind a legacy of generosity, honesty and kindness.

It is so sad to learn of Billy’s passing. He was a wonderful person and I have been blessed to have known him. Heaven is all the richer now and Earth the poorer.

My deepest condolences to Billy’s family. It is with a heavy heart to hear of his passing and he certainly made my life shine during our high school years. I will always remember Billy by his infectious smile, his humour and his never ending kindness. Rest in Peace Billy.
My condolences to Billy’s family. I am saddened by the news of Billy’s passing. I knew him through his tireless work at my condo. We had many chats through the years. In my last conversations with him he expressed his looking forward to his retirement years relaxing and getting away from the winters. I will miss seeing him around my property. On this Thanksgiving Day I am so grateful that I knew Billy. We worked together for 20 years and I cannot count the ways that he made my life better. He always was always there to help me and many others. I could always count on his advice, he was a smart guy. So many people here have been saddened by his passing, I will really miss you Billy. Billy was an incredibly kind soul. When I lived in Charleswood he’d always stop what he was doing to say ‘hi’ to me, and my dog absolutely adored him! Sending love to his family during this difficult time.
