Deepest condolences for the loss of a great man. I will miss card night, meatloaf dinner and the great friendship that Ray always gave. Rest in Peace my friend.
my condolences from Ontario to Rays family. His friendship and help meant so much to my sister
Gloria Dunn and Toque. Our family was so greatful for all that he did for them. Although I never met him personally I considered him a valued friend. Such great phone conversations . He will truly be missed. Tally ho Ray.
Ray had such a good heart and was such a good friend of my sister, Jackie. He will be sorely missed. Heartfelt condolences to Ray’s family.
He was a good man and a great friend will really miss him
Always in my heart and memories. Late night cards and jibberish Chinese, love it. Words can’t describe how much i’ll miss him.
My deepest sympathies to the family. Ray was a very good friend who was always willing to do anything for anyone. He will be missed by many. Until we meet again.

My heartfelt condolences and sympathy goes out to all of Ray’s family. Although I first saw Ray over twenty-two years ago at an extensive Doern reunion in Winnipeg that he was no small part of, it was not until a number of years later after contacting him for our Great Aunt Ruth that we began to get to know each other. First some by telephone, then a lot via email. I was one of the many fortunate ones to be on his huge email list. He forwarded many an email to all his email buddies… Digital storage space is plentiful; I kept all his emails. So glad I did. In an “obtuse” sense a part of him lives on on my computer’s hard drive; and probably a few of the numerous amusing emails he forwarded are still circulating in cyberspace… Our Great Aunt Ruth was quite taken by Ray’s keeping of numerous birds for pets. She had such high regard and respect for Ray and always spoke highly of him. And vice versa, as he had same for her and oft “spoke” highly of her via email. I imagine Ray’s going to be party to Doern reunion endeavours on the other side. Perhaps even with Great Aunt Ruth as matriarch? I expect Ray is going to find out the answer to that. Imagine the family trees he may be able to put together! He truly will be in heaven… 😉 To Ray’s, family, relatives, and, friends, I humbly offer this poem:
—A Step on the Road to Home—
When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little—but not too long,
And not with your heads bowed low,
Remember the love that we all shared,
Miss me—but let me go.
This is a journey that we all must take,
And each must go alone,
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to the friends we know,
Bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
Miss me—but let me go.

His work here is done. I feel privileged, to have had Ray be a part of my life, and to have been a small part of his life.
Our deepest sympathy to Ray’s family, you are all in our thoughts and prayers, may the cherished memories you hold help you through this difficult time. Ray was such a wonderful colleague and friend, he sure made the office laugh. He will be remembered as the thoughtful friend and colleague to many in the GOA, never shy to lend a hand.
Ray and I worked together. He was a “Ray” of sunshine, and he will be missed. Rest in peace Ray…….
